Continuing Medical Education

The Continuing Medical Education Division of Ponce Medical School Foundation (PMSF- CME Division) was established under the responsibility of the Academic Affairs Office in 1988. It was authorized by the Puerto Rico Board of Licensing and Medical Disciplines to provide Category I CME to physicians in Puerto Rico. At that time, its major responsibility was to provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) to faculty members and community physicians.

The PMSF-CME Division is one of the main CME and CE providers for healthcare professionals in Puerto Rico. This has resulted in new challenges and educational responsibilities to this institution. The CME Division is accepting these challenges due to the commitment to the education of the healthcare professionals, and the welfare of patients and the public, as expressed in its Mission and Vision statements.
The contribution of the Division to provide high quality CME to PMSF medical faculty and community physicians is validated with the recognition of the Puerto Rico Board of Licensing and Medical Disciplines (JLDM). It is expected that PMSF-CME activities will effect changes in competence, performance, and patients’ outcomes on physicians and other health professionals who participate in the activities.

Ponce Medical School Foundation is an accredited provider of CME by the Puerto Rico Board of Licensing and Medical Disciplines (Provider’s No. 016-DC26-JLDM) and Continuing Education (CE) for Health Professionals by the Puerto Rico Office of Regulation and Certification of Health Professionals (Provider’s No. 00018). Also, holds the accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (Provider No.0007249). The current accreditation period is from July 31, 2023, to July 31, 2027.
